Another great coffee spot had just opened in the Melbourne CBD, called Maker Coffee. The business itself has been around for a while, and they have a couple of sites that are still up and running prior to this one. But for them to finally open a branch in the CBD, in my opinion, might be one of their best moves yet.
Maker Coffee,
Lt. Bourke St Melbourne
Lt. Bourke St Melbourne
Maker Coffee has been around in Melbourne since 2015. They opened their first post in Richmond, this is the headquarters where the roastery is also located. In 2020, they opened their second branch in the Como Centre of South Yarra, and finally, in November 2021, they opened their newest site in the Melbourne CBD.
I’ve been visiting this coffee shop for five times now, and every single time that I was there, the experience has always been delightful. Service was impeccable, and coffees were exceptionally brewed to perfection, each time! Aside from that, the space is really neat too, makes it really comfortable to sit and hang, or to work.
Maker Coffee serves only single origin coffee in their joint, even for their white coffee. This is something quite unusual that I found in the Melbourne coffee scene. Usually, every coffee shop will use a ‘house blend’ to serve their white coffee with, which is a mixture from different origins (it could be from two to five region) to get that full bodied flavour. But they believe that single origin could taste as great when mix in with the milk.
As a barista myself, I used to think that single origin coffee is the higher rank of coffee and it shouldn’t be drank with milk or sugar. I thought the milk would washes away all the great flavour that the coffee has, which in most cases was true. But now Maker Coffee changes my mind, and I do appreciate them for showing me that Single Origin beans can taste just as great with or without the milk.
What also amazes me was how passionate and knowledgeable everyone is about coffee. Sometimes you can tell when someone is just memorise things compared to someone who genuinely has a good understanding about something by the way they explain it. Service is somewhat slower than what I’d hope for, but it’s always done with excellency, and that’s what matters.
Overall, I love Maker Coffee on Lt. Bourke St! I would definitely come back again, and again, and again. I would highly recommend you to come and try (*hint : come around 3 PM for some sick golden hour moment). And if you’ve been here before, share with me your experience in the comment down below! I also had someYouTube videOS when I was visiting here, check them out if you like too ✨☺️
