If you’re a fan of Japanese culture, or if you’ve ever been to Daiso, Muji, or Made in Japan for some shopping pleasure – then I have an awesome surprise for you! CIBI is essentially a ‘playground’ that offers more than just great shopping experiences – they also boast a cafe inside the shop where you can treat yourself with delicious and authentic Japanese meals. If this doesn’t sound like your kind of place, I don’t know what will!
CIBI, Collingwood
Since 2008, CIBI has been the go-to place for authentic Japanese cuisine and vintage homeware items. Located in a former clothing warehouse situated in the vibrant heart of Collingwood, this high-ceilinged and light indwelling space is an ideal destination for anyone who loves all things Japanese.
When I initially arrived at CIBI, it was nearly time for lunch and although my curiosity wanted me to explore the shop immediately, my stomach declared otherwise. I went straight in to the cafe and asked the staff if there was a couple of empty seats for us. I took a good look around the dining area, this cafe could only practically fit 25 people inside; however, when I stopped by, it was full! Even though the warehouse is spacious in size, this small eatery had barely enough room to accommodate all of its visitors.
With that said, unfortunately, we did have to wait a bit for our seat, but the best part about waiting in CIBI is that it’s never dull. I had a good 15 minutes to kill before they found my seat, so I decided to explore the shop – something which, I’d been dying to do since first stepping foot inside this place!
Upon first entering the CIBI homewares store, I immediately noticed that all of their items are very chic and come with a higher price tag. Although this is a bit extravagant for my budget-friendly preferences, it’s undeniable that these products have been carefully curated — you certainly won’t find similar merchandise anywhere else!

As an additional point of note, the cafe’s menu at CIBI provides a select few options – with four main courses, one soup, and a kids menu. For those wanting to keep within a budget, I’d have to warn you that their meal prices range from $18.5 up to $24 per dish which is somewhat slightly steep for casual breakfast or lunch fare.
At that time, I opted for the Chicken Soboro & Meg went for the CIBI lunch plate. I must admit that the food at CIBI not only tastes amazing but it’s also incredibly nutritious. I’m confident that their premium ingredients are why it comes with a hefty price tag.
Anyway, if you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favour and stop by CIBI to try them out – trust me, you won’t regret it! Their homewares are perfect for gift giving, and if plants are your thing too then there’s even an indoor plant shop right next door for all your greenery needs
Other than that, thank you so much for reading the blog, and I’ll see you on my next one!
