Today I’m going to be reviewing a dessert spot in Surabaya, to be exact it’s at the center of Surabaya and it’s called Scrumptious Pastry and Bakery. I went there with Fio after having lunch around the area, so I thought why not just take some photos for the blog? 🙂
Pastry & Bakery
Unfortunately, Scrumptious Pastry & Bakery in Trunojoyo has closed its door temporarily, but they are now open in Dharmahusada. I'll link the map and the details down in the summary section, but the review below is still when I was visiting their Trunojoyo branch.
Located near Carpentier Kitchen, you’ll find Scrumptious Pastry and Bakery. It’s not a cafe though—instead, they only sell desserts like cakes, cookies and cupcakes. So if you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, this is the perfect place for you! ^^
I went to the bakery in the late afternoon, expecting a different scene than what I found. The settings was on the tinier side of the spectrum. They only have one long communal table with eight chairs arranged around it, that’s all there is. It doesn’t seem like the kind of place people come to sit and chat; rather, it seems ideal for those who want a fast sugar fix instead..
Although the space is tight, I still adore how they decorated it. Every corner was picture-perfect and filled with cute props. I couldn’t help but take pictures everywhere because there were so many adorable things to capture.
Let’s take a look!
What did we order?
Before we got to the cake shop, we were expecting to eat a lot of cakes. However, since we unexpectedly stopped by at Trunojoyo’s Meatball and ate a lot there, our stomachs were already quite full. We also felt that for such small cakes, they were not on the affordable side. We ate meatballs for two portions plus drinks, and it was still cheaper than these two tiny cakes combined.
So we ended up ordering one Rhum Puff (15k) and one Red Velvet Cupcakes (25k)
I really enjoyed the Rhum Puff, which is a type of caramel puff. I love puffs, eclairs, and other pastries with chocolate icing on top and a filling inside. The Red Velvet Cupcakes weren’t very good. I didn’t detect any red velvet; it was just a sweet cake with sugar cream on top.
This place is lovely, in my opinion, though it’s only a good choice if you’re looking for something quick. It wouldn’t be a suitable spot to spend time or have tea because they don’t sell heavier foods here and their beverage selection is limited. Additionally, it’s not very affordable. I can never seem to get my sweet fix when I come here. Lastly, the parking lot mirrors the size of the restaurant–it’s quite small and there aren’t many spots available.
Thank you for reading today’s blog post, I hope you enjoyed it and find it useful. Please do share it with a friend if they’re a sweet tooth, and fancy some cupcakes. It will help spread the words about my blog too, hehe. Lastly I hope you’ll have a great weekend ahead, and I’ll see you on my next one, okay!
