I knew about this new opening restaurant since three weeks ago from #instafoodies group, but one of them said that the soft opening was only for the people who got invited. For the regular people, we have to wait until November. However, I still tried to pay a visit before November and obviously I got rejected by this saying, “I’m sorry, invitation only” LOL, why am I even still trying my luck? Haha.. But never mind, now that I have visited the place, I hope you guys are still interested to read about it.. 🙂
When I first came, Pipe & Barrel was quite full at the indoor area, obviously, no one would sit outside at that hour. I was looking around and I saw that all of the customers were young people, mostly 20-ish casually having lunch with their friends, some were St. Louis 1 students, and some were employees with their work mates (I could tell by seeing their outfit).
I remember the waiters and the waitresses shouted, “Welcome to Pipe & Barrel, how are you?!” (If I’m not mistaken, correct me if I’m wrong) before they led me straight to the cashier. Their ordering system is like Historica’s and Cup and Crumbs’s, where you have to order and pay first on the cashier. The menu itself is already written on the giant board and after that, you can be seated and your orders will be delivered to your table by the waiters.
Here’s our lunch :
It was a grilled (or fried?) Salmon with a cheese sauce, a salad, a baked potato and a lemon.
The salmon was nicely cooked, if you cooked it a little bit longer, would be perfect on the inside, but not a pretty good looking on the outside (it was like over grilled). My heart really fell for the baked potato though, it was SUPERB! <3 Really soft, yummy and tasty..
Philly Cheese Steak Rp. 65.000,- ★★★☆☆
It was like a hot dog, but with different bun. Using sliced beef, cucumber and carrot and mayo and also chips for the side dish.
Everything was nice but the bun, it was too thick and quite hard to chew.
Thai Beef Salad Rp. 45.000,- ★★★★☆
More dressing, more meat, and it goes way better than the beef.
Honey Chicken Rice Rp. 35.000,- ★★★☆☆
It was actually tasted good, however I felt like the sauce was all over my rice, which I don’t prefer. It gets too watery and too sweet. I suggest you to separate the honey sauce from the rice, so that we can adjust how much do we like it. 🙂
Lemon Italian Soda Rp. 22.000,- ★★★★☆
Strawberry Italian Soda Rp. 22.000,- ★★★☆☆
Refreshing, but I didn’t like the strawberry syrup somehow. too sweet.
We were sitting at the outdoor area and totally went crazy that afternoon.. We took so many pictures! I was irresistibly snapping my camera all over the whole place and apparently the foods for this blog. We were also taking pictures of ourselves, with each other, and all together too. It was fun, but just really hot, gosh….. I also went to the toilet but, it was quite dark and hard to take a good quality picture, so I pass the toilet selfie for this time.
- The place is actually nice and the ambience is nice too, I saw a lot of teens and young adults here.
- They played EDM and Trance songs at most, even at noon (if that’s what you’re into).
- They got more beverages menu than the foods, but no desserts.
- The waiters & waitresses are fairly nice, and they could handle camera phone just fine, so no need tongsis (monopod), everyone! 😀
- Food serving was quite fast, maybe because Chef Ken is in charge <3 I was really shy to ask him to take a picture together 🙁
- Would you consider adding one or a couple of air conditioner for your outdoor area? :))
