Getting good sleep is difficult these days especially with all of the anxiety and uncertainty caused by the pandemic and global situation. As a result, many people are not able to sleep well, and I am no exception. Since I moved into my current apartment, I have been wanting to upgrade my quality of sleep, that’s why when Emma Sleep reached out to me to review one of their mattresses, I immediately said, “Yes”!
If you haven’t heard of Emma Sleep, they are an award-winning
company founded in Frankfurt, Germany back in 2015. In the last 7 years, they have expanded to more than 20 countries, including here in Australia, and have been named the fastest growing start-up company in Germany & Europe. With that said, I know that my sleep is going to be in good hands!
They sent me the new Emma Comfort mattress last December, at the time, this mattress was already awarded the CHOICE® Top Scoring Mattress for 2021
. I’ve been sleeping on it for three months now and since today is World Sleep Day, I want to take this opportunity to share my new Emma Mattress experience with you.
Disclaimer: Yes, this is a sponsored post, I received a remuneration to write the post and they sent the mattress to me for free. But all opinions that stated here are honest and truly my own.
The Delivery & The Package

The shipment process for me was relatively quick. I ordered the mattress on the 9th of December and it arrived in my apartment on the 14th. It came in a box — it wasn’t too big, but I wasn’t sure if I could carry it as it was stated on the website that it would weigh around 30kg
, so I asked my partner to help me out. I was there to help him lift the mattress up to our floor but apparently he could carry it on his own quite easily.
The Unboxing
I purposely asked my partner not to help me on this one, as I wanted to experience the process of opening the box, taking the mattress out and laying it out on our bed frame myself. Just to prove the point that if you live alone, setting up a mattress shouldn’t be an issue
. There’s a how-to card
provided at the top of the box, alongside the mini cutter
to cut-off the vacuum plastic. It made the unboxing process go easy and smooth.

The Details
After succeeding with the unboxing, the mattress needs to rest for at least 5 hours
to fully inflate before it’s ready to use, so I let it rest and I opened my window to help get rid of the off-gassing smell. Other than that, the mattress looks beautiful
, and the design is well-thought-out
, no wonder it has sold over a million units worldwide
.
The top cover is called the Fresh Air
, it’s elastic, removable & washable
. It’s made from a climate control fiber that retains the air circulating throughout the night. It helps handling humidity and keep moisture at bay, specially designed for Aussies
to keep us cool in the midst of summer nights and warm in the middle of winter months.
Beneath the Fresh Air cover, lays two different foam, the top is Airgocell foam
which can isolate any motion in one area of the mattress without disrupting the rest; and the bottom layer is the HRX foam
that allows more support for your hip, shoulder & spinal alignment. Every layer of the new Emma Comfort Mattress is also certified
, they are free of harmful substances and is safe for babies and toddlers
.
The Review
After three months sleeping on the new Emma Comfort Mattress
, I would say that I’ve been really enjoying the experience so far. I wouldn’t say our previous mattress was a bad one, but switching to Emma Comfort showed us that our sleep could definitely be improved.
Me and my partner definitely see a big difference to our sleep. We’ve been sleeping longer and better
, the amount of waking up in the middle of the night because of tossing and turning has been decreasing a lot, and the zero motion transfer technology does help keep me sleeping comfortably on my side of the bed despite of having different sleeping schedule to my partner.
Thanks to the newly improved softer layers and the stronger support on the new Emma Comfort mattress
, we haven’t been waking up with a stiff neck or sore shoulders and backs, that’s a really huge plus point
. And lastly, my three-month experience with Emma Comfort was in the summer, and yet, we didn’t get any night sweats
at all when we didn’t turn on our AC. And when we did have our AC on, it still kept me warm & snug all night.
There’s one minor thing that I wouldn’t say a downside, but it’s still worth mentioning because I wanted to share my full experience with you. It is the off-gassing period
, which is when the bed released a smell after you unbox them. It’s pretty normal to experience this with foam mattresses, and the smell wasn’t unbearable either. As long as you leave it in a well ventilated room, the smell will eventually go away after 7 days.
The Price & The Perks
The new Emma Comfort Mattress
’s price is between AU $899 and AU $1.399 depending on the size you choose. The Queen size mattress I picked was priced AU $1.299 without any discounts. I wouldn’t say it’s an affordable purchase but a mattress lasts for years, and we spend a third of our life sleeping anyway, so I would rather invest my money in a mattress that I know will support my sleep, allowing me to achieve my full potential in the day!

But don’t be intimidated by the price point just yet because on this World Sleep Day
, Emma Sleep is having an up to 55% off sale
for their mattresses, and if you use my code : LAURA5
, you’ll get another 5% off
of your purchase. Plus, Emma Sleep also has a free delivery
, a 10-year guarantee
and 100-day trial
for all of their mattresses, so if the experience doesn’t match your expectation you can easily
get your money back and return
your mattress.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with my new Emma Comfort Mattress
, they delivered everything that they claimed on the mattress. I would highly recommend
